Chopin by Kogosowski
great event on 9th October 2015

Polish Community of Victoria invite you to Frederic Chopin Concert presented by Alan Kogosowski on 9th October 2015 at 7 pm at Lauriston Girls' School, Irving Hall, 38 Huntingtower Rd., Armadale 3143. Tickets: $20, concession $15. Booking: 9569 4020 or reception@pccv.org.au

ONE of the foremost pianists of his generation, Alan Kogosowski’s performances of the music of Chopin have won acclaim and brought pleasure to audiences in Europe, America and Australia. Awarded a medal from the Vatican in 1999 for his many all-Chopin concerts in London on behalf of charitable causes, especially Polish causes during the climactic years of struggle for independence, he is seen as one of the world’s outstanding performers and authorities on Chopin’s music.

Kogosowski presented the prestigious concert series at Sotheby’s in London for ten years. These concerts acquired a cult following, with members of the Royal Family often attending, foremost among Kogosowski’s admirers being Princess Diana and the Queen Mother.

Kogosowski restored Chopin’s beautiful but forgotten unfinished Third Piano Concerto, which he premiered with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. His six-part TV series on the life of Chopin, first broadcast in New York in 2003, was hailed by the New York Times as ‘outstanding’. In 2007 Kogosowski took part in Los Angeles in a play about Chopin, by actress and writer Diana Douglas, mother of Michael Douglas.

Kogosowski’s book about Chopin and the piano, Genius of the Piano, a comprehensive exploration of the life of the great composer as well as the history and art of piano playing, and also How to Prevent RSI - a Pianist’s Perspective for Everyone, are available as e-books from
