Come and Join us at the K'Ozzie Fest 2010
Preliminary Program
This year’s festival celebrates the 170th anniversary of the discovery and naming of Mt. Kosciuszko by Sir P.E. Strzelecki, as well as the 200th anniversary of the birth of Chopin.

Friday, March 19, 2010.Locations: Charlotte Pass, Mt. Kosciuszko (Summit)

9 am Traditional pilgrimage to Mt Kosciuszko. By chairlift from Thredbo or by walk from Charlotte Pass.
12 noon: Sing-along at the summit.

11 am: The first ever "Kosciuszko Run 2010" from Charlotte Pass Village to the summit - start from Charlotte Pass Ski Resort - Kosciuszko Chalet Resort. Total distance 11 km. This event is being organised by Strzelecki Heritage Inc.

1 pm: Medal awarding ceremony, followed by a mini-concert. A special song for the winner will be performed.

Location: Jindabyne

5pm: Piano recital by Krzysztof Malek, ‘200th Anniversary of Chopin’s Birth’. Jindabyne Anglican Church. Free entry.

Saturday, March 20, 2010 Locations: Jindabyne Cinemas, Memorial Hall, the Strzelecki Monument and Horizons Resort

7,30 am - Strzelecki Walk with Pawel Gospodarczyk along Lake Jindabyne (some 3 km) followed by a drink of mineral water under the Strzelecki Monument.

9 am: Photographic exhibition, ‘In Mud and Blizzard: Winter Expedition Along the Strzelecki Track’. NPWS Visitors’ Centre. Photos by Oscar Kantor.

10 am: The premiere of Oskar Kantor’s 55-minute docu-drama about Sir P.E. Strzelecki, ‘Mt. Kosciuszko: The Frozen Years’, followed by Joseph Drewniak and Andrew Chodkiewicz’s 27-minute documentary, ‘Strzelecki’s Return’. Jindabyne Cinemas.

11 am – 1:30 pm: Morning tea, followed by a Polish lunch in Memorial Hall. All artists will receive a free lunch.

1:30 pm – 4 pm: Gala Concert at Memorial Hall, featuring: - A Welcome to Country (it is hoped that this will be from the Ngarigo Elders); - A speech from a NPWS Representative; - A speech from the Mayor of Jindabyne; - A speech from the Polish Ambassador (the Festival’s Patron); - A speech from the Hon. Maciej Plazynski, MP, a guest of honour from Poland and the President of the ‘Wspolnota Polska’ Association - A message from Dr. Lidia Filus, a representative of the Kosciuszko Foundation in the USA; - A speech from Mr Robert Korzeniowski, a hero of the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the patron of the Kosciuszko Run.

5 pm: Arkadiusz Buczek playing Polish didgeridoo. Strzelecki Monument.

7 pm: Piano recital by Chris Malek, ‘Chopin’s 200th Birth Anniversary’. Horizons Resort.

Sunday, March 21, 2010
Locations: Cooma - Centennial Park, St Patrick’s Catholic Church and St Paul’s Parish Hall

10am – 3pm: Gala Concert in Centennial Park, featuring:
- The Mayor of Cooma;
- The Polish Consul General;
- An Aboriginal representative;
- The Hon. M. Plazynski;
- An acceptance of a congratulatory song by the winners of the Kosciuszko Run.

(10am: Mass at St Patrick’s. Optional)

Screening of the docudrama ‘Mt Kosciuszko: The Frozen Years’. Time and venue to be advised.

Monday, March 22, 2010

7 pm: Piano recital by Chris Malek, ‘Chopin’s 200th Birth Anniversary’. St Paul’s Parish Hall. Tickets will be available from the Monaro Arts Society.
