Saturday, 28th October 2017.

Welcome to Jindabyne. Pop in to Memorial Hall to say hello to those who have already arrived and if you have time, help us mount photo exhibition and decorate the hall. Get across the road to greet Paul Edmund Strzelecki on the gigant monument over the Lake Jindabyne.

Back across the road; make a little trip to National Parks Visitors Centre and on to the Theatrette to view two exhibitions organized by Kosciuszko Heritage Inc. The first one presents over 200 Kosciuszko monuments all over the world; photos taken by Felix Molski. The second one presents the history of Kosciuszko Festivals in Jindabyne and the story of friendship being built between Ngarigo, traditional custodians of Mt Kosciuszko, and the Polish community.

Make time to visit Kosciuszko Brewery located in the Banjo Paterson Hotel at Kosciuszko Road. You may have lunch at the Hotel Restaurant or anywhere at a roadside bars or cafes.

Join us at the Memorial Hall for a cup of tea and be ready for the official start of the celebrations.

2 pm. Official start. Welcome distinguished guests. Short speeches and Welcome to Ngarigo Country officiated by Iris White. Our Masters of Ceremony are: Darius Paczyński and Tomek Kukielka, later on to be joined by Vicky Hispodaryk, a dancer of Lajkonik Ensemble.

IN THE PROGRAM:

“DANCE WITH THE SPIRITS”. World prapremiere of the Polish-Aboriginal Ballet “Dance with the Spirits” designed and choreographed by Ursula Lang, Artistic Director of the Folkloric Song and Dance Ensamble LAJKONIK. Narration by Ursula Lang and Iris White.

RECITAL BY JULIAN GILEWSKI. Welcome a talented guest from Poland, a winner in the recently concluded International “Kosciuszko Bicentenary” Competition organized by Kosciuszko Heritage as part of Kosciuszko Year celebrations. A 16 yo JULIAN GILEWSKI from Warsaw submitted a wonderful composition “Kosciuszko’s Music Moment” for which he was awarded the second prize in the Youth Category.

PIANO RECITAL BY KRZYSZTOF MALEK. Welcome the great pianist, Krzysztof Malek, for many of us he is the best performer of Chopin’s repertoire in Australia. Some local music fans must remember Krzysztof coming down to Jindabyne to play for free while two energetic ladies Carole Thomas and Antoinette Braeder decided to organize a fund raising concert to get money to buy a grand piano…. As the old piano was so ruined that it landed on a rubbish tip. So this is how we got the grand piano.

LOWICZ ENSEMLBE. SZAMOTULSKIe TANCE. All the way from Melbourne, welcome LOWICZ Folkloric Ensemble, and it is not the first time for Lowicz to perform in Jindabyne.

SLAWEK KAZAN - SLADAMI STRZELECKIEGO, a very special song, one of the winners of the recently concluded Kosciuszko Competition.

SONGS IN NGARIGO by Michelle Dixon and her dad David Dixon. Just a week ago they came back from Cracow, Poland where they have taken part in an International Kosciuszko Conference as well as in a Bicentennial Mass at the Wawel’s Cathedral. You may have seen their happy faces on the photos of the exhibition “Ngarigo Historic Trip to Poland”.
