Odrabiamy zaległości (11): O Dniu Polonii - min. W. Waszczykowski
Fotogaleria ze spotkania w Konsulacie RP
Serdecznie zapraszamy do obejrzenia fotoreportażu Tomka Koprowskiego ze spotkania z min. Waszczykowskim. 1 maja br odbyło się w Konsulacie RP w Sydney spotkanie z szefem polskiej dyplomacji min. Witoldem Waszczykowskim, któremu towarzyszyła liczna delegacja ekspertów. Uroczysty wieczór uświetnił występ znakomitego pianisty Krzysztofa Małka oraz udekorowanie przez Ambasadora Pawła Milewskiego kopią odznaczenia nadanego przed laty Państwu Ani i Philowi Sawter z "Polish Place", które padło ofiarą strasznego pożaru w ostatni dzień ub. roku. O tym pożarze pisaliśmy w Pulsie- tu link. Kilka linków dot. wizyty Min. Waszczykowskiego w Australii:

Anniversary of May 3 Constitution

Z przemówienia Ministra Waszczykowskiego -Day of the Polish Diaspora and Poles AbroadThe Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad Day, celebrated on May 2, was established by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland on the initiative of the Polish Senate in 2002 “in recognition of the longstanding achievements and contributions of the Polish diaspora and Poles abroad in regaining Polish independence, as well as their loyalty and attachment to Polishness, in addition to helping the homeland In the most difficult moments.”

On the occasion of today's holiday celebrating the Polish diaspora and Poles abroad, I thank you for your dedication to the homeland, for cultivating Polish heritage, language and culture, and for promoting a positive image of Poland all over the world. On my own behalf and that of Polish diplomacy I also wish you success in your personal, professional and public life. I hope that you will not only keep in touch with our country, but that you will also return to it, as our doors are always open to you. I also have a deep hope for further successful cooperation aimed at strengthening the good name of Poland and the even better promotion of the achievements made by Poles beyond our borders.

Witold Waszczykowski
Minister of Foreign Affairs

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, between 18-20 million Poles live outside the country – about 12.5 million in North and South America, 4.3 million in Western Europe and 1.5 million in Eastern Europe. The largest Polish diaspora is located in the United States, where in 2012 over 9.6 million people declared their Polish origin.

In a speech delivered in Poland’s Sejm in February 2017, Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski stressed that "the Polish diaspora and Poles living abroad occupy a unique place in the foreign policy of the Republic of Poland. They are members of our Polish family, a part of Poland in the farthest corners of the world."

The Polish government maintains contacts with the Polish diaspora and Poles living abroad in many ways, including through the "Government Programme for Cooperation with the Polish diaspora and Poles Abroad in 2015-2020", defining strategic goals: supporting the teaching of Polish, teaching about Poland and in the Polish language, strengthening Polish identity and providing opportunities to participate in national culture, strengthening Polish communities abroad, supporting the return of Poles to the country and creating incentives for Polish people to settle in Poland as well as multifaceted development of contacts with Poland.
