Polonez: see you on Federation Square
Polonez Friends Newsletter Nov. 2014

Again, there was an even warmer reaction to the October issues of the POLONEZ newsletters, with even more Friends and alumni becoming involved. We are still on the hunt for "lost'" Friends, alumni members and new email addresses. So, welcome to our new readers!! We hope you enjoy keeping in touch with the POLONEZ family. In particular we have to mention Jadzia Hetnal Siwka, who not only has made contact with a large number of our Foundation members, but also sent some iconic photos of our first appearance at Moomba, and our first performance at the 1000th anniversary of Polish Christendom, at the Melbourne Town Hall, which we will put to good use, Ala Mielnik Bliszczyk, who is doing a great job researching and documenting some of our most beautiful memories, as you will see below, and Jan Pigot who has helped out with sewing Krakowski skirts for Maly POLONEZ, which they will wear at the Festival on Sunday. Thank you ALL very much, such help is really appreciated, and keeps the cogs turning.

This is what is planned so far for the POLONEZ 50th anniversary celebrations. The POLONEZ 50th Anniversary concerts, 2015: We have the DATES!!!!!! Saturday, 18th April, a Gala Concert in the evening, and Sunday, 19th April, a family orientated concert in the afternoon.

The General Reunion for all POLONEZ alumni and their families, and for so many POLONEZ Friends who have worked with and assisted POLONEZ over these years, will be held 17th May, 2015. Ala Mielnik Bliszczyk has offered to co-ordinate this, so many thanks. The POLONEZ Birthday Party, as POLONEZ was founded in October 1965. This is likely to be a more intimate, more formal celebration, still being worked out.

A POLONEZ scrapbook of photos, memories and significant moments. Rather than an official history, we thought we would ask for as many contributions of photos, funny moments and memories you all might have of POLONEZ. Feel free to send them to me. In this newsletter we have Ala's touching account of the "Let Poland be Poland" moment at one of our concerts.

Email addresses: The only way we will make a success of our Reunion year is if we can get the word out to as many members as possible, and frankly, that is very hard. This is where we really need your help. PLEASE pass my email address to any friends of yours who have been in POLONEZ and ask them to provide their email address to me, or forward their email addresses to me, bczech@optusnet.com.au, with their permission. And/or do share / forward this newsletter on to them. I will also contact alumni members individually for help.
