Relish the beautiful ambience of the renowned Sydney Conservatorium of Music, indulge in an elegant cocktail and be transported to a bygone era as vocalists Adam Wasiel and Maya Kedziora together with pianist Julia Brimo present an exciting new concert of 1930s charming tangos, sentimental foxtrots and nostalgic waltzes.
For lovers of the 1930s American Songbook, this concert should delight with works including COLE PORTER’s unforgettable ‘Night and Day’ and ‘You’re the top’; IRVING BERLIN’s majestic ‘Top Hat, White Tie & Tails’ and ‘Cheek to Cheek’ as well as ARTHUR JOHNSTON’s gorgeous ‘Cocktails for Two’ and ‘Just one more chance’.
The aroma of pre-war America is mixed with European gems to form an elegant musical cocktail, including the Italian tangos ‘Creola’ and ‘Just a Gigolo’, the energetic German hit ‘An old Spanish tango’ as well as sentimental Polish tangos ‘Who else cares about our love?’, ‘It’s worth getting drunk’, ‘Dark Eyes’ and ‘Longing for a girl’.
